About
Roberto Gil Jr.
Roberto Gil Jr. is a youth development leader, camp professional, and mentor with decades of experience designing and leading programs that support young people in building confidence, community, and lifelong skills.
Throughout his career, Roberto has worked extensively with youth from New York City and across the country, creating spaces where young people feel seen, challenged, and supported. His work spans residential summer camps, year-round youth programming, and leadership development initiatives, with a strong focus on equity, inclusion, and whole-person growth.
Roberto currently serves as the Director of Camp Dogwood Summer Academy with the AnBryce Foundation, where he leads a residential summer program serving youth primarily from the DMV area. Prior to this role, he held leadership positions at organizations such as The Fresh Air Fund in New York and the Princeton-Blairstown Center in New Jersey, where he oversaw camp operations, staff development, and program design.
Through LeadWell Youth Consulting LLC, Roberto partners with camps and youth-serving organizations to strengthen their programs, develop their staff, and build inclusive communities where both young people and adults can thrive. His approach is grounded in real-world experience, relationship-building, and a belief that strong staff and intentional programming are at the heart of impactful youth experiences.
Roberto is also a speaker and facilitator, sharing insights on leadership, mentorship, and building diverse and effective teams. He was selected as a speaker for the Association for Experiential Education International Conference, where he presented his story about the power of mentorship and reciprocity.
At the core of Roberto’s work is a deep commitment to mentorship and brotherhood, and to helping young people—and those who serve them—grow into their fullest potential.
